About the owners
Rachel Newman’s dream has always been to work with animals. Growing up in Port Washington, NY she continually had a house full of pets. Her first job was at her local veterinarian clinic from where she would bring home numerous abandoned animals. This has spawned a 20 year journey of working with animals in various facets. Prior to opening A Walk in the Park, Rachel was a sales rep in the telecom industry and then followed her heart to work as a manager at a pet care facility in Arlington, VA. Rachel is a graduate of the University of Arizona where she received a BA in Psychology. She lives with her husband Jeff, their two sons, their coon hound mix and one goldfish.
Jolie Brown, Rachel’s sister-in-law, brings to the business a decade of marketing experience. After working with big companies and not-for-profits, she decided to become an independent marketing consultant. Jolie grew up in Allentown, PA and met her husband Daniel at the University of Michigan where she received her BA in Psychology. After completing her MBA program at The University of Miami, she settled down in Bethesda, MD where she currently resides with her husband Daniel, their two children their Irish Terrier Murphy and Chihuahua Diva.
About our office manager
Tatiana Toczko worked first in the corporate arena, then a medical office before deciding to follow her heart and work with her first love; animals. Answering the ad for Pet Lovers Wanted was the first step towards a more rewarding life path. Now in her third year of managing the office, Tatiana is also taking courses to become a dog behaviorist. Tatiana lives in Damascus, MD with her husband Todd, and their two rescues; a chocolate lab named Winnie, and a puggle named Rosie.
